“Russian hackers” were suspected in the attack on the world’s largest meat producer JBS
The largest meat processing company in the world, JBS, has become a victim of an extortionate software attack. According to Bloomberg, citing informed sources, REvil hackers are behind the hacking.
Due to the attack that occurred on May 30, JBS computer systems in North America and Australia were affected. The company has suspended the operation of a number of plants.
The White House said that hackers based in Russia are most likely behind the hacking.
“The White House is cooperating with the Russian government on this issue and emphasizes that responsible states do not harbor extortionate criminals,” representatives of the American authorities said.
According to Bloomberg, the attack was carried out by the hacker group REvil (also known as Sodinokibi). Hackers are often associated with the Russian Federation due to the fact that they do not attack Russian organizations or enterprises in the countries of the former USSR.
Recall that in October, a representative of the REvil team said that the group’s annual earnings exceeded $ 100 million.
In the spring of 2021, hackers attacked the computer giant Acer and demanded $50 million in Monero, as well as Apple’s supplier.
